Afternoon office snacking with vegan treats from Doisy and Dam*
I'm a grazer. If I had the choice of only ever eating meals for the rest of my life or only ever eating snacks I'd always go with the latter. Snacks are just a necessity really - who wants to curl up to watch a movie without popcorn???
Anyway, enough of that tangent. I'm a sucker for snacking allll day at work. I used to work on my feet and there was no opportunity to munch whilst waitressing, but now I'm free to get a lil sugar fix whenever I want. My problem is that 90% of the time what I want is chocolate, and the dairy in it makes me feel so unwell. So I end up in a cycle of feeling hungry, getting a snack and then feeling sick until I'm hungry again. And tbh I'm done with it. It's just completely unpleasant.
Here's where Doisy and Dam come in. They make lil vegan chocolate bars in the most beautiful packaging, and this means that they won't upset my dairy-sensitive tummy. I'd forgotten how much I loved dark chocolate, but I'm an absolute sucker for it all over again now.
A lot of their bars are also gluten free, soya free and handmade in the UK. It also turns out that the owners aren't called Daisy and Dom as I first imagined; the name comes from two nobel winning scientists who discovered a vitamin that is present in chocolate.
I brought lots of little bars into work with me to share around my little office, and we all had some firm favourites. The maple, toasted rice and pink salt bar sits at the top of my list. I love the contrast between sweet and salty, the crispy texture of the toasted rice inside and it's dark but not *too* dark that you end up with a moistureless mouth, ya know?
These have been rescuing me from the 3 o clock (and eleven o clock and half past 1 o clock) slump. I need a little sugar kick in my day to get me through, and making it as healthy as possible is something that I'm really starting to get back into.
The dark chocolate snaps were a big hit. They're little chunks of all different sizes of one flavour bar in a big bag. Although I obviously went for the salty ones, the coconut and lucuma snaps were everyone else's favourites, tasting a little like a bounty bar.
I love these little chocolate bars, and slipping one into my back pack (aka the snackmobile that I bring to work) has brightened up each day for me.
*Although I received some products in this post for the purpose of a review, all thoughts and opinions are my own - I don't mess when it comes to chocolate*

oh i love this brand! i've never tried the snaps before though they look great!
ReplyDeleteAwesome post Steph, I’ve tried the lemon and poppy seed flavour one before and it was really lovely. The packaging is bright and cheery as well. You were so kind bringing the snacks into work to share too. I haven’t seen the chocolate snaps before, they would be good for a cinema night. Thanks for brightening my day! :-) xx

ReplyDeleteI've tried the maple, toasted rice and pink salt flavour before and loved it - never tried the snaps before though, might have to give those a go now! What am I thinking reading this right before I go food shopping? :p
