Soap and Glory foot rescue duo

Working on your feet all day must have some perk somewhere down the line, but I'm not sure I've found it yet. The dull pain you get in your heels at the end of a long day never really goes away, no matter how often you work on your feet, or how long you've done it for.
A little pamper is my favourite kind of indulgence. A face mask, hot bath and lots of candles are a vital part of my mental health self care routine. But, sometimes it's important to remember to take care of the bits of your body you don't associate pampering or skin care with.
Without getting too OTT, your feet guide you on this earth, and if Yoga with Adriene has taught me one thing, it's how important taking care of them is. FYI, if you're into yoga, then her channel is one of the best out there to help improve your practice. 
My self-care/pamper routine with my feet involves a hot bath and face mask obvs. I set myself up with a book, lots of candles and my favourite shower gel. Towards the end of the bath I reach for my Soap and Glory Scrub of your life. It's honestly the best scrub I've ever used. I massage it into all areas of my feet: the heels, the ball, the toes. I actually take the time to take care of my feet and think about all the pressure I put them under and how important they are.
I have quite sensitive skin, so I always have to moisturise after exfoliating. Every single foot lotion I've ever tried is peppermint scented, and I hate it. But, Soap and Glory's heel genius butter 1.) doesn't smell like peppermint and 2.) really works its way into my feet and makes them SO SOFT. I slather this on, and again, massage it into my feet, and then pop my fluffiest bed socks on for a few hours.
This pair is honestly a godsend for people who work on their feet all day, and it's one of my favourite parts of my pamper routine. What do you do to keep your feet soft and happy?

French lavender hand cream (that leaves your hands grease-free)

I'm a serial hand-washer. There's no two ways about it, I'm obsessed. I'm not saying this because 'omg so proud about how clean I am', but because I do it to a point where I require hand cream to salve the damage I create. I work in a restaurant, and wash my hands after every dirty plate I touch. That's a whole lotta plates. 
Admittedly, the skin on my hands is a lot worse in winter. Not only does it have to cope with lots of soap irritation, but also wind chapping. In winter I need some seriously heavy duty creams, but in summer I can get away with something a little lighter. This is where this beauty from Bath and Body Works comes in.
I've tried so many different hand creams. I've got half a desk drawer of them. I've even tried the holy grail of hand creams for sore hands: The Body Shop's hemp oil cream. Every time I mention that my hands are cracked or dry someone recommends it to me. The problem is that it doesn't sink into my skin properly (and irritates my sensitive skin, but y'know). So, I'm left with sticky, tacky hands. Which makes me want to wash them again. It leads to a vicious cycle and makes the whole point of using the cream useless.
I didn't have high hopes for this mini French lavender scented hand cream from Bath and Body Works. I totally picked it up because lavender is my fave scent ever, not because I thought it would save my hand skin. #priorities. 
However, I've finally found a cream that sinks into my skin perfectly. It smells amazing, it's lightweight and it totally evaporates into my skin. It doesn't irritate my very sensitive eczema-prone skin at all, although this doesn't mean it might not do it to someone else. I've finally found the product that provides balance between moisturing my hands without leaving a film of hand cream behind. I LOVE it, and the next time I head back to America this is at the top of my 'need to buy' list.

Nip + Fab Detox Blend Range

I'm a big fan of a good detox. Whether that's from dairy, or sulphate shampoo, or soft drinks, I just love the idea of helping my body to help me out. I always think of a detox as a way to go back to ground zero, and a way to feel pretty zen. So it's no surprise that I had to give the detox blend range from Nip + Fab a go. 
Detox blend body wash
This was my favourite out of the three. The whole range is tea tree and jasmine scented, so as you can imagine, it smells very fresh and a little floral. This woke me up in the morning and made my skin feel genuinely clean. 
Detox blend body scrub
I was so excited to try this, but so so disappointed with the formula. I don't know if mine had gotten water in it, or what had happened, but the consistency was honestly like water with a few exfoliating beads in. I used up the whole bottle in four uses, and I was actually quite glad to get to the bottom of it. I tried so hard to persevere and use it, but it just ran off my skin, and the little bit of scrub that I managed to keep hold of just didn't exfoliate my skin as much as I would have liked. 
Detox blend body lotion
This was much better than the scrub. Although it was described as a lotion, it was fairly thin, so was almost like a milk. It's also the only lotion that I've ever used with a pump (I'm more of a body butter tub kinda gal normally). The lotion I used before this was so thick and greasy; it just refused to sink in. So, this was such a welcome break from that. It applied really easily, and felt clean and refreshing, which is definitely what I needed in the recent heatwave.

Do I really need anti-wrinkle creams in my 20s?!*

Anti-wrinkle creams are here, there and everywhere, and have been for a few years now. My first Saturday job was in a Savers (lol) and it involved being one of those annoying checkout people that have to ask whether you would like to try a product on promotion. You know the ones I mean. FYI, it's just as annoying to be the one repeatedly asking every customer as it is to be asked. We rarely sold any of the products. Maybe two a day would be forced off of the front of the till. And then one day, we had a L'Oreal anti-wrinkle cream on offer. I sold over 20 that day on my own. At the ripe old age of 16, I hadn't learnt any new fancy sales schemes overnight, it was simply down to the product. People went MAD for it.

Lavender is hands down my favourite scent of all time. I know it has a bit of a rep for being a 'granny' scent, but quite honestly I simply don't care. It relaxes me, I don't find it overpowering, and it's about the only floral scent that my nose enjoys. Hand me a LUSH Twilight bath bomb and some lavender chocolate (yes, that's totally a thing, and you can get it here), and I'll be your friend forever.

A review of every Superdrug facemask

This post is something that I've been planning, and piecing together for months now. I don't know about you, but a Superdrug facemask was always a staple of a teenage sleepover. They're fun, cheap and cater for a whole range of skin types. Now that I'm in my twenties, it seems to be all about buying expensive face mask pots, filled with golden flakes and exotic ingredients. But sometimes all you want is to pop into Superdrug, pick up a little face mask and have a pamper evening. So I've spent the last couple of months trying out every single one they sell in their range to let you know what's hot and what's not.

1.) Orange and Black Lava Face Mask

For: all skin types.

Smell: fresh, zesty orange.

Texture: slightly lumpy clay mask. Contains bits of orange peel that you can feel.

Dries: hard and lighter in colour. Makes my sensitive skin sting a little.

Effect: Could feel it exfoliating my skin as I took it off. Skin feels tight and looks a little red.

2.) De-stressing mud mask

Smell: fresh, can smell the aloe vera.

Texture: smooth and cooling.

Dries: Stayed wet to the touch despite keeping it on for 20 minutes. It started to dry in places and had tiny cracks. Easy to remove; gently.

Effects: Skin feels soft and plump and looks clear.

3.) Tropical Cocktail Peel-Off Mask

For: all skin types

Smells: like fruit salad Chewits

Texture: sticky! It stays very wet, and even dripped off of my face. 

Dries: tight. Took 30 minutes to dry so that I could peel it off, rather than the 10-20 that the packet advised.

Effect: skin was shiny.

4.) Cucumber Cooling Face Mask

For: sensitive skin

Smell: fresh

Texture: smooth, clay

Dries: stung slightly as it dried, even though it's recommended for sensitive skin. 

Effects: skin left feeling a little dry.

5.) Chocolate Orange Self-Heating Mask

For: normal to dry skin

Smells: exactly like a dark chocolate Terry's chocolate orange

Texture: like melted chocolate. You use a different application to a normal face mask as you need your face to be wet before applying it. A very wet, smooth face mask.

Dries: self heats as soon as it touches your face. Stays wet and glossy. Dripped off me and onto my clothes.

Effects: easy to remove. it calmed down my spots and made my T-zone less greasy.

6.) Black Seaweed Peel-Off Mask

For: oily skin

Smells: like unpleasant, harsh minerals

Texture: very wet and smooth

Dries: tight and smooth to the touch. You can however see where it's sunk into my pores.

Effects: skin a bit dry, but was great for my T-zone. Sucked the oil/pus (grim, I know) out of some newbie spots I had forming. My pores looked a lot cleaner.

7.) Detoxifying Dead Sea Mineral Mask

Smells: fresh, like a spa. Very mineral-y

Texture: thick and mud like. Feels a little lumpy on your hands but smooths out over your face.

Dries: hard and lighter in colour. Tightens.

Effects: soothed my sensitive skin and made my spots less oily

8.) White Chocolate Mousse Mask

Smells: not very nice. A little like alcohol and not at all chocolatey.

Texture: smooth

Dries: unsure. Had allergic reaction to the mask as soon as I put it on and had to remove it instantly. The mask is no longer on Superdrug's website so perhaps other people reacted badly and they've discontinued it.

9.) Fruit Sorbet Antioxidant Peel-Off Mask

For: all skin types

Smells: like fresh apples and berries

Texture: smooth and sticky

Dries: smooth - peels off all in one. Takes about half an hour to dry enough to peel off.

Effect: my face was blemish-free the next morning. It dried all of my whiteheads out.

10.) Anti-Ageing Moisture Mask

Smells: fresh

Texture: creamy, almost like a moisturiser

Dries: doesn't really dry, it sinks into the skin a little instead.

Effect: skin is soft, plumped and hydrated

11.) Dead Sea Purifying Clay Mask

For: oily and blemish prone skin Smells: like tea tree. Fresh and clean scent. Texture: smooth and thick. Dries: tight and hard. You can see that it sinks into your pores. Effects: skin looks clean and clear, but feels very dry. 

12.) Superfruits Exfoliating Mask

For: all skin types Smells: like a sweet, fresh smoothie Texture: rough because of the strawberry seeds it contains for exfoliation. Thick and creamy. Dries: stings my sensitive skin a little whilst drying. It goes hard, tight, and a light purple colour. Effects: pores are clearer and skin is soft, but a little red.
Now that I've tried all of them, I would definitely repurchase the: anti-ageing moisture mask, detoxifying dead sea mineral mask, de-stressing mud mask and black lava peel-off mask. These four all suited my combination, sensitive skin.

Chin Up Masks - The Non-Surgical Facelift

This is one of those (many) blog posts that I've just ended up pushing back and back and back because I've had so many others that I've been more excited to write. I actually picked this trial pack of chin up masks at the Bloggers Ball way back in June, and tried it out in July. Whoops. 
This trial pack retails at £29.95 and in it you get the strap that holds the mask to your face as well as two of the masks themselves. 
Now, I've done a lot of face masks in the past - they're my ultimate go-to for when I want a bit of a pamper - but nothing I've ever tried has been anything like this.
You start off by cleansing your neck. Then you open the mask pack and place the mask on the underneath of your chin. The mask itself is very very wet, and the only other mask that I've tried that is similar in this way is Garnier's hydra-bomb sheet mask. It's a rectangular mask, and slightly sticky, so that once you put it on your chin it will stay there for a few seconds whilst you manoeuvre the strap on.
This mask is definitely something I would do with a friend, just because this strap makes you honestly look hilarious. It sits on your chin and goes slightly up and around your cheeks so that you can fasten it at the back of your head. You have to fasten it quite tight (assumedly to make the mask work), and end up looking slightly hamsterish. I've already got pretty chubby cheeks and couldn't help but laughing at myself in the mirror.
Once you've had it on for thirty minutes you get to remove everything, and massage the excess moisture into your chin. I've got really sensitive skin, so I was honestly quite worried that I would have a reaction to this, but thankfully none of the ingredients were harsh enough. My one warning is that the packet does tell you that the mask will have a warming effect on your chin, and it definitely does!
Both me and my sister did it and were pleasantly surprised when we looked in the mirror. Our double chins had actually noticeably reduced, as the package had promised! I was so disappointed to find that the effects would only last for a week or so, but it was such a nice confidence boost to have for that week.

September Favourites and Life Update

Another month has absolutely flown by hasn't it? Now I have a little confession to make: this post was definitely meant to go up right at the start of October, but I've been so behind that I've only just got it up now. One of my October goals is going to be to catch up on blog posts and to make sure that everything goes out when it's meant to!
September has been a pretty exciting month for me. My sister came to visit me in my new town, and we had the best time shopping and exploring a local eatery. I've been feeling really lonely here as I still don't know anybody yet, so having her here for a few days made me feel a lot better. I also headed back home to spend a couple of days with my mum for her birthday at the end of the month. 
Speaking of family related things, me and my boyfriend have also been knuckling down to house hunting. Us, the hamsters and Ted the bunny are moving into a more central location in the town, which could not come sooner for me - I'm just not a countryside kind of girl. We've got a few house visits coming up this week, so hopefully within the next week we might have got our very own place to live! 
Right, on to the favourites. First up are my three tsum tsums from The Nightmare Before Christmas which I am ecstatic about. I have got Jack, Sally and Zero and had to completely restrain myself from getting Sandy Claws Jack. I had these out the other day to watch the film with me and some jelly tots. It was basically the best way to spend an evening, especially as they're starting to get colder and I'm wanting to do more indoor activities. 
On a similar note, my Cedarwood and Myrrh Primark candle (you can't really go wrong with a £1 candle) has joined my horde of candles to make our bedroom feel a lot more cosy in the Autumn chill. This was the first Autumn candle that I bought this year, and to me it signified a shift away from Summer. I've also started to rely more on tea to keep me warm on chilly mornings, so I've got back into the habit of kick starting my days with lemon and ginger tea. I've gone for Clipper's Organic Lemon and Ginger Infusion and it's really been making me feel less bloated all day.
Now onto beauty. I've got some real gems this month that I was a little overexcited about. Whilst I was getting all excited about my Zoella Lifestyle order, I realised that I hadn't tried anything from her beauty ranges before. So, I picked up a few pieces from the Sweet Inspirations set (which I will be chatting about in more detail soon). This Sweet Inspirations body mist has been my go-to on the way to work, as it's fresh and subtle. I can't wear heavy perfumes to work because I work with food, so this is a fab alternative. 
I've also been switching up my skincare choices in the past month as I'm trying to use up all of the long forgotten items that have sat in my bathroom for months. The Body Shop's White Musk Body Lotion mini is something I've been ignoring for over a year. I don't tend to go for musky scents, as I'm a bit more of a sweet fanatic, and so this hadn't really appealed to me. But when I started using it I fell a little bit in love. It made my skin so soft and I smelt lovely all day - something which I haven't found from using body lotion in a while. I think this one may have to make its way onto my Christmas list. 
Another mini that surprised me with how much I loved it was my Simple Kind to Skin Moisturising Facial Wash. This made my sensitive skin incredibly happy, and calmed down all of my breakouts. This has been sat in my cupboard for almost a year now (whoops) and I think when my skin starts to get out of control again, I might have to repurchase this to resettle it.

A Massive Boots Haul!

It feels like a bit of a week of firsts here on Nourish ME: first I had my first ever book review, and now here's my first ever Boots haul. I know this is something that almost every blogger to ever have existed has written before, but I wanted to give it a go, and after splashing out a little bit a couple of weeks ago I wanted to share my picks with you! Plus, I feel like I got a nice, large range of goodies so there's something for everyone (hopefully) in here.
I'm lucky enough to have an absolutely massive Boots in my new town, with a whole section dedicated to NYX's entire beauty range *swoons*. So, in the past few months I've been taking full advantage of the sheer size of the place and I feel like I've only just finished trawling through every single shelf. And now they're about to bring all of their Christmas goodies out so I'm going to need to start all over again. Whoops. 
Anyhow, I started off in the skin care section, which is definitely my favourite aspect of beauty, and leaves me practically drooling to have an endless skincare routine full of magical products. Realistically I'm pretty darn lazy and I've spent the last three months trying to use up all of my long-forgotten skin care stashes. 
However, after reading about 1000 blog posts raving about it, the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser has been on my must-buy list for a while. The one that I picked up is recommended as the starter kit, and contains 100ml of the cleanser as well as two muslin clothes. I'm pretty excited to get started on this, as so many people have said that it will work wonders on my skin ... *fingers crossed*. 
The next skin care piece I picked up was one of Soap & Glory's Happy Pamper £5 gift sets. My sister was more than a little horrified by the fact that I had bought a gift set for myself, but I wanted to try the minis of the Righteous Butter and Clean on Me shower gel before forking out for the larger ones. Both products smell amazing, and I'm hoping they live up to their rep too! 
Picking up this Ted Baker mini body spray was a bit of a wildcard (aka impulse buy). I can't wear perfume to work as I handle people's food as a waitress, but I can get away with a body mist. For £3 I couldn't resist picking this up, as I've never been let down by a Ted Baker scent before. 
Right, now I've bored you all to death with my skin care rambles, let's talk about what you're actually interested in: the makeup. I knew that I had two Youtube videos planned that I needed some supplies for, and now that I've actually filmed both (though neither is up yet) I can tell you what they are. I decided to follow up my watermelon makeup look video with a peach one and a blueberry one. 
So, I hit the NYX stand with a furious look of intent in my eyes, ready to fill my basket up. And fill it I did. First I picked up the soft matte lip cream in Buenos Aires, which is a slightly pink toned peach. This is something that I would never normally go for, but actually it kind of worked! Then I got a littttle bit distracted from my main goal and went for their lingerie lipstick in Exotic. This was the first time that I'd seen the Lingerie range in person, so I couldn't resist. Exotic is one of the darker shades of the range, and is fairly similar in colour to their liquid suede lipstick in Soft Spoken. My final NYX lipstick purchase was their soft matte lip cream in Moscow. This is a navy shade, and was perfect for my blueberry inspired makeup look! To go with the latter I picked up their vivid brights eyeliner in sapphire. This one is definitely bright, and has pretty much already revolutionized my opinion of eyeliners that aren't plain black; I'm a little bit in love.
