This post pretty much encapsulates why I'll never make it as a fashion blogger (nor would I want to). In fact I can kind of do it in one sentence: I choose comfort over style every damn time. A lacy teddy that is just going to make you itchy and grumpy? Nah, I'd rather have a pair of snuggly Bambi pajamas. Heeled ankle boots to wear on a daily basis? Um where are my pumps? I know I'm not the only person who's like this, right?!

Now, as Autumn rolls in I find myself getting the urge to snuggle up in comfy clothes more and more. I don't want to be wearing tight skinny jeans all of the time - if I'm at home and it's chilly, I'd much rather be snuggled up in some leggings under my blankets with candles ablaze.

These waffle textured long sleeved (and legged) Bambi pajamas are part one of my recipe to getting a snuggly evening in. I picked them up from Primark a few weeks ago and have been practically living in them ever since. The light grey and baby pink colour combo is so pretty, and genuinely relaxing. They have the added bonus of being super soft. Think of these as the pastry to your chocolate tart of an Autumn evening: without a good pair of snuggly pajamas, everything falls apart. And yes, I am thinking about Bake Off as I'm writing this post - can you tell?

Next up is a relaxing activity. Usually I try to squeeze in a couple each evening. I really struggle to 'switch off' from work on my laptop, and if I don't have something clearly set out in my mind to do then I'll end up working until I'm mentally too tired to anymore and have to get straight into bed. This is obviously not a very healthy way to work, and so having this time in the evening set aside for relaxing is a great way for me to set boundaries. Picking up a book, watching Netflix, colouring and doing a puzzle are my absolute favourites when it comes to this. And yes, I know I'm verging on transforming into an eighty year old by puzzling for fun, but I find that it really helps my anxiety.

Step 3 is to have a little pamper. This is basically the raspberries delicately adorning your tart (and if you watch Bake Off you'll hopefully know the kind of image I'm going for here). I'm talking getting that heavy duty foot moisturiser out of the cupboard, dusting it off and actually taking the time to give your feet a good rub. Pop on some fluffy bed socks to keep the moisture in and you'll be soft and warm (my favourite combo of all time). Grab yourself a face and/or hair mask too, put these on and, despite feeling like a bit of a greasy gremlin for a while. once you've washed them off you'll be swishing your smooth princess hair in everybody's faces. Or, like me, going 'please just feel it, it's SO SOFT'.

Now that you're wrapped up in gorgeous pajamas with something to do to wind down, feeling like a goddess, it's time to put the icing on the ... err, tart. An icing sugar topping is basically there for fancy show, to make everyone 'ooh' and 'ahh' at how pretty it is. I don't know about you, but I feel like this about getting all my Autumn-y candles out on a chilly evening. There's just something so comforting about these little flames of heat and light, bubbling away all over the room that makes me feel at peace. My recipe for the perfect cosy Autumn night couldn't be complete without these.

What would you add to the mixture?
