Big bullet journal catch up: themed months and seasonal spreads

Big bullet journal catch up: themed months and seasonal spreads

I had this grand plan for the second half of 2018 to create intricate themed spreads for every week of every month, with a whole host of progress pages (habit trackers, stats trackers etc) included. I'd even do a monthly blog post on how things went with a look into all of the spreads and what they meant. I didn't even get one month properly completed the way I wanted to.

This is a big roundup post of everything that went in my bujo from October to the end of the year, because I still wanted to share these bits with you. Sitting down and writing this post has also definitely made me realise that something needs to change: I either need to dedicate more time to my bullet journal, or cut down on what I want to include.

October was a pretty successful month on the ol' getting things down on paper front. I kick started the month with some Nightmare Before Christmas theming because we all need a bit of Jack and Sally in our lives. I wanted to include a big nod to Autumn and Halloween in there as well, so included my first few seasonal themed pages.

The pumpkin spread is one of my all-time favourites. It was the first seasonal spread I've ever done in my bullet journal and made me feel even more excited to get carving for Halloween! The whole month is probably my favourite I've included in my bujo, and it wasn't as time consuming as November ...

This is when things got ... intricate. I follow a lot of bullet journal Instagram accounts to keep me motivated, and I decided I really wanted to try drawing in more detail. And I'm proud of it, but it took hours and hours and hours. I love my little Lumiere, and I even had a Cogsworth later on in the month. My camera card got corrupted in November (RIP buddy), so I lost a few of the photos for this one, but you can check them out on my Insta if you fancy a peek.

This was another month where my camera ruined things for me (and I WISH I had a picture of the cute trees for Christmas week). I mean, I'm totally aware that I could re-take the photos but that would require me having remembered to before I started writing this post.

I abandoned any kind of film related theme in December and if I'm honest I was actually happier for it. I haven't decided if I'm going to stick with Disney or head down another route in 2019 yet, but I found having a no-theme seasonal month gave me a lot more creative license.

I've not made great inroads to my bullet journal in 2019, but I'm starting to get things all ready for the year ahead. I know I'm completely behind and that 100% stresses me out, but I'll find a solution (sooner rather than later I hope!) that makes it more fun again.

  1. Your drawings come out so perfect! My biggest turn off with bullet journaling is that I take hours to make one page! I use other planners and journals but the most time consuming is bullet journals. However, this year I eventually want to get into bullet journaling again because of the amount of creative freedom. ♥

    1. Thank you so much! Honestly up close there are a LOT of errors (and even more when I drew things out in pencil!). It taking a long time suits me a lot - it's one of the things I do to unwind before bed!

  2. your drawings are amazing and your journal is so neat. my bullet journal is so messy right now and all over the place. where did you get your book from? the dots make it look so much easier for straight lines as my pages are plain and although I use a ruler, it still ends up wonky!

    1. Thank you so much Em! I got mine from a Ryman's - they're quite pricey but I think it's really worth it! The dots make straight lines so much easier
