Switching to plastic-free face wash: The Body Shop's Himalayan Charcoal Soap

This year I've really been trying to make small changes that will have a big impact on the amount of waste (especially plastic) that I use. Cosmetics and toiletries is one of the main things I've been trying to tackle this year in terms of cutting down because wow how many face wash, shampoo, conditioner, hair mask, makeup remover, and god knows what else bottles do I get through in a year? 
The Body Shop's Himalayan charcoal purifying facial soap has made it so easy for me to switch out the bottle of face wash I'd normally use in the morning. This was part of my first online Body Shop order I've done in years, and I was pleasantly surprised that the order came just in a cardboard box, with absolutely no plastic wrapping to be seen. The bar itself is just wrapped in waxed paper. 

I've been using this for a few months now to give it a real go before mentioning it on here because I was a little concerned about what using a bar cleanser would do to my prone-to-breakout combination skin. I had visions of it being effectively a bar of abrasive soap that would ruin my skin and leave a horrible soapy sheen feeling.
However, I'm very impressed. I rub the bar together on my hands to create a lather (and it lathers up into really thick bubbles), before rubbing in and washing off with warm water. It really feels as though it cleans my skin thoroughly, and I'm never left with any dregs of dirt or makeup on afterwards. I don't use it as a make-up remover, but it's good at getting those last bits that you might have missed off. Although it is a little drying, this is something you'd expect from a product that contains tea tree and charcoal. It seems to really calm down my spots in the morning and I'm just left feeling like my skin has been thoroughly cleansed.
The bar costs £4 and having started using it back in June, it looks like I've still got a couple of months left in it. I would have already gone through at least two of my normal face wash bottles in this time and although this seems like a very small amount, over the year it's 6 fewer bottles that are ending up in the bin (they're usually non-recyclable). 
This is one of my favourite small sustainable changes I've made this year - not only has it saved me money, but it's made a noticeable difference to the amount of rubbish I'm creating through my toiletries!
