I know most of you are going to flick past this, exactly the way I do when I see a favourites post this late on in a month because, really who cares at this point. But, I promise you that there are some absolute gems in here that you need to get your hands on.
My favourites posts are the ones that I'm most likely to look back on. They're the only form of online diary that I have, unless you include tweets. It's important to me to remember what made me happy in a month, and what made me sad; the highlights and the low-lights, which is why I'm still going to post this.
At the very start of June I turned 23, which is quite frankly terrifying. I feel as though by now I should have my life together (PSA, I totally don't). This feeling of impending doom was really not helped by the fact that all the job hunting I did in June turned out to be fruitless. Yep, another month and no new job. Taking in rejection after rejection, or in most cases just no reply, can be pretty brutal, and it reduced me to tears a few times during the month.
But, turning 23 has also inspired me to do things that I'm really proud of. One of them is the fact that I actually haven't given up on the job hunt. I want a career, and I want to be able to afford nice things, and I'm going to work at it. I also started learning to drive, which I've been avoiding for the past six years. Oops. I'm enjoying it much more than I ever thought I would, and I'm feeling pretty proud of all the progress I've made so far.
And now it's time to chat favourites. It's a pretty beauty heavy one this month, because I was really trying to nail my self-care routine as I had bouts of feeling pretty low.
In my opinion, Rimmel really came through last month with some amazing drugstore beauty products. Their Insta range is a bit hit and miss for my skin, but the hits are absolutely incredible. I've spoken about the whole range in a lot more detail here, but if you pick anything up from it, then the setting spray* and fix & matte powder* are a winning combo in my opinion. Plus, the colour correcting palette* has done wonders for concealing my dark under-eye bags!
LUSH have also had my back this month. If you've read my post all about how to reduce your plastic waste, then you'll know that that's something I'm really passionate about, and that I'm trying to do more and more at the moment. Their Honey I Washed My Hair Shampoo not only saved my hair from turned into a ball of frizz during our hateful heatwave, but also creates zero plastic waste as it isn't bottled.
I've spoken quite a bit about my recent hormone-induced breakout, and by recent I mean a continuous one for the past three months. No, I'm not preggo, I just switched up my birth control pill and it's not making my skin happy at all. Cosmetic Warrior is one of LUSH's fresh face masks that I actually haven't used before. I'm going to be dedicating a whole post to it at some point in the (hopefully) near future, but basically it really helps to dry out whiteheads, and fully cleanse my skin. I've got really sensitive skin, so I can't use anything too harsh to help get rid of spots, and this provides a nice balance.
My final beauty favourite is the sweetest smelling bubble bath from Imperial Leather. I'm trying to switch out my bathroom products so that if they are made from plastic, they're made from clear plastic rather than coloured plastic which I can't recycle. It's a tiny difference, but I really think it could help. This marshmallow bubble bath ticks that box AND made my skin super soft whilst being affordable. Win. Win. Win.
In early June I got my hands on a much coveted Box of Lame from That Lame Company, and although I've spoken about it in detail here, I do have one clear favourite. Included in the box was a rose gold clipboard, which I envisioned myself having absolutely no use for. BUT, I pinned their 'You are capable' rose gold print to it and it's got pride of place on my bookshelf now. Looking across at it from my desk when I'm feeling upset after yet another job rejection, or when I'm lacking confidence in my blog does wonders for me. It's such a lovely little reminder that I can do what I want to do.
Last but not least, I was obsessed with these crisps that I discovered. They're shaped like little fishes and chips, which is super cute and they have an almost cracker-like texture. I could eat these all day and they're my fave go-to snack at the moment.
I've filmed this all over on my Youtube channel, and I've linked the video below: I would love it if you had a watch!
