Affordable independent stores to shop at this Christmas

Christmas is a wonderful time (IMO), and it's the perfect season to think about your actions a little bit more carefully. So many people do so much more giving at Christmas and I honestly love seeing it and doing it. One of the ways that I love giving back is to shop small.

Whilst we're all searching for the perfect gifts, independent store owners are working their butts off to hit yearly targets, count every little penny up and make Christmas a time where they get to see their own work that they've made with so much passion head into people's homes. And I love the idea of helping out with that. So, here's my list of some of my all-time fave indie stores that not only make the perfect gifts, but also do incredible Christmas cards, wrapping and decor.

First up is obviously going to be Dorkface. This amazing little Etsy story run by a fellow blogger, Jemma has seen an order or two *cough* from me in the past. I've got a whole collection of Jemma's prints that have seen me through so many flatlays and are popped up on my collage wall. I also picked up one of her personalised anchor prints for a friend's wedding this year, and with a frame it made a really nice thoughtful gift that didn't break the bank. The newlyweds loved it so much that it's now hung in pride of place in their living room.

Next up is a store that I've found recently but bought SO many fab Christmas cards from - it's Ellis Woolley. This is run by another fellow blogger, Ellis, and her cruelty free vibes come all the way through into her artwork. She has the cutest lil bunch of Christmassy animal cards that I've picked out for my nearest and dearest. I gave one to a close friend today and she absolutely loved it (and immediately asked where I got it from because it was hella cute).

Next up is Sarah and Maude. I only delved into Sarah's shop last month and I'm in love. The 'eat, drink and be merry' coasters in my photos are from her store and, I mean, how perfect are they for your Christmas dinner table?! She sells a whole load of cute cards and stationary, lovingly made with her letterpress, Maude.

The Treasured is a slightly bigger online store that sells other brands as well as its own bits and pieces, but it's still a small store that I'm hella excited to support. I picked up my Harry Potter print from them and its beyond dreamy. It's one of my absolute favourite HP prints, and I'm so enamoured with it that I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do with it yet, but I think I might get it framed.

Next up are a few stores that I've only discovered recently, but really want to buy something from in the future, so I thought I'd share them to spread some inspo.

I love gifting people handmade art pieces. I think it shows that you've really thought about something that they'd love. With an Ocean View caught my eye with their amazing Disney galaxy prints that I'm pretty darn sure will be winding their way into my basket in January. It's something that I've not seen anywhere else. Also, her prints are all drawn in one continuous line, and they look incredible.

I know a bit of a theme is emerging here, but who doesn't have Disney fans to buy for this Christmas? Foxes in the Forest do the most amazing Disney watercolour prints for some of the most reasonable prices I've seen. I absolutely adore the Tiana and Ariel ones and this is another store that's making its way onto my 'must buy from' list.

Witchcrafts is something a little different, but no less skilled. I'm totally in awe of the talent of this gal, and I keep heading back to her website to eye up all the bits and bobs on there. My favourite at the moment is her Nightmare Before Christmas print, which encapsulates the move SO WELL. Also, how epic is this store name?!

I've been swooning over Sarah Docker's art over on her Instagram for quite a while now. Her typography is incredible, and I still haven't recovered from the amazing pieces she created all about saving the oceans from plastic. They were beautiful. Her bespoke pet paintings are the perfect gift for pet lovers, and I've seen her create some absolutely stunning ones now. Also, I love supporting people who in turn are doing their best to support the earth, like Sarah is, ya know?

I'm sure there's a zillion other indie stores that have totally bypassed my mind right now, but I'm leaving this lil list here for the minute. I hope it inspires you to shop small this year, and that you purchase some fab goodies! I'm always on the hunt for new indie stores to browse, so please let me know which are your favourites.
