Giving back during the festive season
Christmas is a time for giving. Whether this comes from a religious viewpoint, a traditional one, a moral one or just a gut instinct, we all know that Christmas is about sharing and loving and being kind. Today I'm chatting about ways to give back this year, and I hope it inspires you to do a little something too, and spread joy to those around you.
1.) Donate to a foodbank. Whether this be a monetary donation, or goods, food banks really need your help. If you head over to the Trussel Trust website you can find the food bank nearest to you, and it'll tell you what they're in urgent need of. As well as doing this yourself, you could start up a hamper scamper at work to encourage others to do the same.
2.) Help the homeless. Find out some more info on your local homeless charity. See what they're in need of and bring some bits along. Talk to the people you see on the streets, buy them a hot drink and a lunch and give them whatever clothes they need to keep warm. It's bloody freezing out there at the moment, and I can't think of anything more terrifying than not having a home to go to.
3.) Do some fundraising for a charity you love. Host a bake sale, have a Christmas jumper day at work, donate some hair to the Princess' trust. Do something to help a charity get closer to their fundraising goal for the year, and get other people involved too.
4.) Fill up your bird feeders. This one's a little different I know. But animals struggle in winter too. When the ground's frozen, it can be really hard for birds to get the food they need, so you could really save some by giving them a helping hand in their foraging.
5.) Share the blog love. Everyone's got goals for the end of the year. Retweeting, commenting on posts/ Instas/ sharing your favourite accounts/ pinning images can all really help to push your fave bloggers that little bit closer to their goals.
6.) Try to keep things eco-friendly. Shop small, shop from the UK, shop local. There are so many ways you can cut down on waste this year, and if we all do it it can really help the environment in a mammoth way. Even little things like recycling as much as you can over the festive season can make a difference.

These are all great ideas!! It's nice to help families or homeless people, to give them the necessary things to spend holidays nicely like a meal or a hot drink or blankets now that it's getting cold.

I'm glad you think so! It really is so important to help the homeless all year round, but especially when it's so cold!

Omg I didn't think about making sure the bird feeders are filled at this time of year but I will make sure they are topped up now!

Aw what a lovely post. I'm currently finding out how I'd like to help out this year for Christmas. I am thinking of donating to environmental groups as I am so passionate about environmental matters and think it would be such a great cause! Food banks are also a great way to give to those in need xx

That sounds like such a fab thing to do! I'm so glad Blue Planet has come out at this time of year because I really feel like it's given people that push to look into what they can do to help the environment via gift giving
