Testing out my LUSH Sale Picks

A pile of different LUSH products in a flatlay next to a candle

I've been meaning to write this post for a while now after picking up these bits in the yearly post-Christmas LUSH sale, but I thought I'd give myself time to actually try out all of these products. Considering the endless lockdown meaning that I basically never leave my house, it's taken a while to have enough zoom calls to test out the makeup bits!

Of course I've tried snow fairy before, but I haven't treated myself to some for *years* and I'm so happy to have it again. This obviously has the characteristic uber sweet scent that just brings a little joy to my shower. I've also been trying out the American Cream conditioner in the shower for the first time and it's left my hair feeling super soft. It's not a very heavy conditioner, and doesn't do much to tame my frizz, but it does keep my hair feeling healthy, which is what I need after over a year of no hair cuts!

Two liquid LUSH highlighters, one pale and one dark with their lids off

A close up of LUSH's liquid highlighter 'Feeling Younger'

It's been a LONG time since I've used anything other than a powder highlighter, and so it's been a bit of a learning curve getting used to these. I'm a much bigger fan of Feeling Younger at the moment - it's a great highlight (you really only need a tiny amount), and suits my skin. Charisma is a product I'm trying to persevere with and get used to. I've tried it both as a highlight and as more of a shimmery bronzer and I'm struggling to blend it in so that you can actually tell its there without it being harsh against the rest of my makeup. I think this is probably at least in part due to just how pale my skin is, but it just doesn't sit very well for me.

LUSH's Magical Moringa face balm pot

This primer on the other hand was a hit right from the start. I've not used any kind of balm primer before, but it really just means you need to warm it a little between your fingers before applying it. This has helped to not only reduce the impact my foundation has on my skin by providing a bit of a barrier between the two, but it has made my foundation apply in a notably smoother way. It's a tiny bit shimmery, doesn't feel heavy on the skin and really helps with my dry areas of skin that can make my base look patchy.

Two LUSH body lotions: green Once Upon a Time and white Sympathy for the Skin

And finally we have body lotions. Once Upon a Time is one of LUSH's Christmas scents that I LOVE. It smells like sweet apples and is my current go-to moisturiser for when I've got an important day ahead or need a pick-me-up. It's a little thicker and heavier than Sympathy for the Skin, but as someone with dry skin, it's sometimes what I really need.

Sympathy for the Skin isn't my favourite scent - I'm trying to convince myself it smells a *little* like Bird's Dream Topping, but really it smells more like marzipan. I love how it feels on my skin though - it absorbs very easily, doesn't leave my skin feeling at all sticky, and feels very soothing.

Overall I'm pretty pleased with what I've got, and I can't wait to have an occasion outside of my own home where I use all my new products for a little extra confidence boost!
