July favourites and life update
This is hella late (again), but I still wanted to create this post. I've been feeling a little 'meh' about my blog and its content lately, and if I'm honest that's mostly why I'm behind on blog posts. I feel like my posts aren't seismic enough, they don't educate or help people, and I'm just not a good blogger. But, my favourites posts are my only form of online diary. So no matter how behind I am, I really do want to keep up on these so I can look back on the memories I made each month, and discover how my life changed to become what it will become in the future.
From now on, I'm whittling my content down to things I really love, and getting back to why I started Nourish ME. I want to have a blog that is genuinely focused on taking care of yourself on the inside and out, and actually focus on doing that in my daily life too.
July started off as a bit of a slow one for me. I was still job hunting, and ended up working a zillion shifts at the restaurant to cover everyone's holidays. BUT, I finally found a job. It wasn't my dream career, but I'd finally be earning a salary (and not being paid per hour thank FUCK), not working weekends, having my evenings free and getting the benefits that come with working for a big company. However, things have changed a little since then, but I'm gonna keep you hanging until next month's favourites to find out what's going on. Everything is still in limbo and it all happened in August, but I'm basically not working there anymore for a good reason.
The other major event for me in July was the Bone Cancer Research Trust ball. I've done a couple of collab posts with my sister, where she speaks out about her experiences as a survivor of childhood cancer. The charity has a very close place in my heart, and I was so glad to get the opportunity to support it.
Beauty favourites
My skin still hasn't recovered from this weird bout of suddenly sprouting spots. I never suffered that bad with them as a teen at all, and I'm now pretty concerned I'm gonna be one of those people who gets them in early adulthood ffs. I'm using a gel KIKO cleanser at the moment to even out my oily patches, but it does leave my skin feeling a little tight. This is where the L'Oreal hydra genius aloe water comes in. I've got the one for normal to combination skin, and it just gives my skin that little bit of extra hydration it desperately needs without making my face greasy. It's cooling, and has become a staple of my summer skin care routine.
My scalp has been acting up a little too recently (pls skin gods can ya stop with this now), so I've been using LUSH's Soak and Float solid shampoo. This is the one they recommend for dandruff and it's made such a noticeable difference to mine, even if it hasn't completely gone away. It also smells incredible. It contains rose and marigold petals as well as cade oil to treat your scalp.
Finally on the beauty front, I've been using So ... ? Fragrance's Wild Berries body mist pretty much constantly at work. I went off So ...? for years after I got past the 12-year-old Charlie body spray phase (we've all been there). This one has brought me back around to the brand however. The bottle is a LOT less tacky than their body spray cans and the spray smells so sweet and fruity. I've had a whole tonne of compliments off everyone at work on how it smells and we've all passed it around a few times to share!
Lifestyle and food
I'm really getting back into my herbal/green teas at the moment, and Tetley have a new range out which I adore. Their berry green tea featured in my May favourites, and now we're back with Tetley's Super mint green tea. I find peppermint tea can be a little too much for me sometimes, but this is perfect. The peppermint is subtle and sweet, and almost tastes like spearmint. It's their 'Detox' tea and makes me feel a lot less bloated.
I'm only going to briefly mention my Ohh Deer x Urban Outfitters Daily Planner, because I have a whole post on it here, but oh my word it's incredible. It's everything I've ever wanted in a planner, and I don't go a day without writing in it now.
My final favourite this month is Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I fell in love with this book in a way I haven't done in years. It made me feel empowered, in charge of my life, and served as a reminder that I can decide my own destiny. I've written a whole post delving into why I got so drawn in by this novel if you fancy a read.
What were you obsessing over in July?

Ah, Steph! Sorry to hear that you're feeling 'meh' about your blog!
ReplyDeleteWe all go through times of intense drive and passion for blogging and then sometimes just a lack of the aforementioned! It happens to the best of us!
Congrats on your job! Even if it's not your 'dream job', consider it a stepping stone!
Lovely photography!

It's tough to keep blogging when you don't feel on your A game, but I took some time out at the gym to brainstorm ideas and it make me feel a whole load better!

Congrats on getting a new job! You're not alone in feeling a bit fed up with your blog, there's definitely something in the air at the moment that's been putting me off big time and it can be really difficult to get back into the swing of things :/ x x
