Reading in Heels June subscription box
This heatwave has me wanting to sit down, preferably in an ice bath, reading a book and never moving whilst a fan wafts a cool breeze on to my skin. I mean, my reality is that I've spent a lot of time curled up in a sweaty heap on the sofa reading this week, but they're almost the same, right?
This month's Reading in Heels subscription box has goodies that seem to be based all around getting a good night's sleep. I am SO glad it is, because wow trying to sleep in this weather is just not something that's actually happening.
The Book
Bad Romance is a collection of short stories about women of all different shapes, classes and walks of life. It depicts modern life and how relationships impact it in both positive and negative ways from a feminist perspective.
I've not read many short stories or novellas, so this is something that will definitely push my boundaries. The cover looks feisty and I'm excited to see just how different each short story can be when it's written by the same author in the same book. Each month I'm shocked by how different the books are to what I normally read, and it's one of the main reasons why I keep coming back to these boxes.
The goodies
As soon as I opened this month's box up, I was hit with a big ol' waft of lavender, which is my absolute fave. The little Hopping Hare Relaxing tealight in the box was the culprit on this one and I'm waiting for an evening where I'm feeling really on edge to light it and fill my bedroom up with such a soothing smell before getting ready to go to sleep.
Paired with this, we have the Cooper's Apothecary sleep balm. Again, this is filled with notes of lavender but also carries frankincense, hemp oil and shea butter. You rub this on your pressure points (temples, wrists etc) to soothe you before heading to sleep.
Next up is T2's Sleep Tight tea. T2 is a brand that lil ol tea-loving me has always wanted to give a try, but I've just never got around to it. The Sleep Tight brew contains lemon balm, lavender, jasmine and rose petals. As a big herbal tea fan this sounds like an absolute dream, so I'm hoping it's a hit.
Finally, the box didn't disappoint on the snack front. Inside are two little rose and cardamom nankhatai. These sound beautiful, and I've been saving them for when I finally sit down with a cup of T2 on an evening where I know getting to sleep will be tough.
As always, I loved this month's Reading in Heels box, and I can't wait for next month's!
