High end vs high street makeup dupes look

We all love a good dupe, don't we? I recently created a look on my Youtube channel that had me using high end makeup on one side of my face, and high street products on the other. I used the same products for my base on both side (No 7 foundation, concealer, blusher and Urban Decay eye shadow), and switched up my eyeliner, mascara, brow product and lipstick. In the above picture, the left hand side of my face as you look at it is the high street version, and the right side is the high end one.

Eyeliner: Kat Von D vs Rimmel
Kat Von D's tattoo liner (in Trooper) has been on my beauty wishlist for months. I've only heard raving reviews about it, and I had to give it a go. I'm really REALLY bad at getting a good wing eyeliner, but the brush tip on it has actually helped me with my precision, and I'm finding that it lasts for ages as well. 
This is the dupe that I noticed the biggest difference in. Rimmel's Scandal Eyes micro eyeliner* was a much less bold colour. Its tip is more like a felt tip than a brush, which means that it's a little stiffer and harder to apply. It also comes off far more quickly, and does so by fading until there's a really noticeable difference in the pigmentation between the two. 
Brows: Anastasia Beverley Hills vs NYX
The ABH dip brow pomade has been heralded as the eyebrow product to use since forever, and I''m so glad I finally got my hands on it. I've found that a little goes a very long way with it, so I pop a teensy bit on my angled brow brush and I'm good to go. 
I actually found that NYX's Tame and Frame brow pomade is a really good dupe for this. The formula is a little drier, which makes it a little harder to put on with as much accuracy. But, it has a good amount of staying power, and I've found a good match to my brow colour. I've used NYX's Espresso shade and ABH's Soft Brown. ABH do have a wider range of colours, so Soft Brown is a slightly better match for me, but both suit my natural brow colour. 
Mascara: Too Faced vs Rimmel
I have fallen in love with Too Faced's Better Than Sex mascara. It gives my lashes such a good amount of length and curl that at the moment I can't think of switching to any other product in the near future. It doesn't make my lashes clumpy, or too heavy with product, and one layer is good enough for my daily makeup application. 
Rimmel's Volume Shake mascara really had a tough one to stand against here, and it really didn't do very well. It's a super wet formula, which I hate, and this makes it really hard to avoid getting clumpy lashes, let alone avoid getting mascara all over your carefully blended eye shadow, dammit. It does the opposite of everything that I love about the Better than Sex mascara, and I'd definitely recommend the latter: there's a vast canyon of difference between the quality of the two products. 
Lipstick: Kat Von D vs NYX
This was definitely the best dupe IMO; these liquid lip products were honestly so similar. I've heard amazing things about Kat Von D's Lolita and I couldn't wait to try it, but when I did I found that it didn't last as long as I expected, despite the ultra matte formula. It actually lasts about as long as NYX's Soft Spoken, which is a third of the price.
The pair were also incredibly similar in colour. I'd say that Soft Spoken has a slightly more peachy undertone if anything. It's also not quite as matte, so if you're going for the killer matte look, then I'd definitely stick with Lolita.

All in all, I've basically learnt that NYX really do do some amazing dupes, and that I don't actually always need high end products if I want makeup that looks good. I love my new high end makeup pieces, but I think for the moment NYX definitely has my back. I've filmed the creation of this look here if you want to see how it looks in a little more detail.
