I read a LOT of beauty blog posts. And the more you read, the more you see familiar names cropping up time and time again. When I got the opportunity to head to Sephora in April, there were a few particular products that come under what I like to call 'cult beauty blogger products'. You know the ones: those bits that it feels like everybody and their mum has tried. I'm talking Liz Earle's cleanse and Polish (which even I've written a post on here), I'm talking the Kylie lip kits, I'm talking sheet masks. You get the gist.

I picked my top four 'must have' cult beauty blogger picks and today we're  going to be chatting about whether or not they live up to the hype.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade

This has been heralded as the eyebrow product to own for the last year or more. I've never been able to splash out on it in the UK, so I've been using NYX's own version as a sort of replica. Now that I have the real thing I can totally see the difference. The ABH pomade is a much wetter formula, making it easier to apply as much or as little as you want. I've been going for subtler brows recently because it's simply so much easier to blend in and to make look natural. It stays on forever and the choice of shades are far wider than NYX's. I'm a convert to this.

Too Faced's Better Than Sex mascara

I've tried a ridiculous number of mascaras over the years; it's pretty much impossible to head into Superdrug without picking up a new one, right?! The only mascara I've ever found that has well and truly wowed me is another beauty blogger favourite: Benefit's They're Real (I've explained why here). But, I think Better than Sex has pipped the post. The wand is an hourglass shape which makes it super easy to get onto the lashes at the corners of your eyes. It's not too wet, doesn't make my lashes clumpy and oh my word I'm in love. This is my favourite of all the pieces I picked up, and there was some very tough competition.

Kat Von D's Tattoo Liner

I suck at eyeliner. Like on a massive scale. So, I really need something that makes the job a whole lot easier, and pen liners seem to be the way forward for that. But, they tend to rub off really easily, and just not last a great deal of time. This is different. I've actually (sorta) managed a decent cat eye with it, which is practically a miracle. Plus, it didn't really smudge on my entire journey home from the States, which took over 20 hours, featured a lot of napping and ten ounces of stress. This makes it 100% a winner in my book. I picked up the shade 'Trooper' which is an intense black.

Kat Von D's Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita

This is such a specific beauty blogger fave, but I've heard SO many people rave about this shade in particular. I can totally see why. It's my favourite nude at the moment because the shade suits my fair skin perfectly. But, I do have a few qualms with it. It's almost identical to NYX's liquid suede lipstick in Soft Spoken (which I already own, dammit) AND it lasts about the same length of time despite being over 3 times the price.

    1. I imagine it could be a bit heavy for people with short lashes, and that might be why :)
