It's the week of Blue Monday, so to try and perk me (and you all) up a little bit, I've decided to write a post on the best part of January: the sales. Amidst the dreary weather, dark afternoons and metaphorical belt-tightening, we're faced with a glimmer of hope. Every time I walk through the high street at the moment I'm bombarded with an array of bold, in-your-face signs, screaming 'FURTHER REDUCTIONS', '50% OFF', 'SALE CONTINUES' and the suchlike.
As I went back to work on Boxing Day (I know, I let out a sniffle at that too), I had no opportunity to get involved in the mania of the post Christmas sales. But, I'm kind of glad. Although I missed out on the infamous LUSH sale, I got to head into the shops when everything was a bit calmer, and get some deals that were a bit better than the week or two before. Yas.
January has definitely been a little tight on the funds for me, so my sale picks are brief, but in my mind still very beautiful.
First up are my two beauty picks. The Body Shop is one of my all time favourite brands. It's the first brand that really got me into beauty and I always fall in love with their festive range. My boyfriend actually picked me up some bits from the Frosted Berries range for Christmas, so I was all set on that front, but I wanted to give the Spiced Apple range a go. Their Spiced Apple shower gel was at the top of my sales wishlist. I always find that The Body Shop's shower gels last forever and make my skin feel and smell amazing. This was in the sale for £2.50 aka an absolute steal. Alongside it, I decided to give the Spiced Apple lip balm (£2) a go. My lips have been oh-so dry recently and I needed something to pop into my handbag for work. This basically makes my lips smell like apple crumble, so I've fallen a little bit in love.
My Spring wardrobe is looking a little shabby and very bare at the moment, so I scoured the fashion shops in hunt of a good deal on some nice picks. Overall I have to say that I was really quite disappointed ... until I headed into New Look. I can always trust this to have my back. I picked up a striped turtle neck top (£3!) which I've already fallen in love with. It's cosy, simple and it's makes me feel totally Parisian when paired with a red lip. It's also now down to £1 in the NL sale! After I found this, I couldn't resist picking up my second turtleneck. This time however it was a dark grey mottled cropped one (£7). I'm not sure which I love more.
And finally, I stepped totally out of my comfort zone by picking up the most gorgeous bra from Ann Summers. Usually I pop in, have a peek at a price tag and run back out again. I know there's a lot of hype about the store, but you really can get underwear that's just as nice from ASOS or Forever 21 for a fraction of the price. This time however I decided to treat myself. This red underwired lacy bra is so pretty and sexy I could cry.
I read each and every one of your comments, and really appreciate the time you've taken to add them! If you want or need a more immediate response then contact me through my twitter @stephhartley4. Thank you!
