10 things I learnt from bingewatching Naked Attraction

10 things I learnt from bingewatching Naked Attraction

I've finally caught up and watched every season of Naked Attraction. If you haven't seen the show, it's one of those out-there things that Channel 4 created (why is it always Channel 4 with the weird and wonderful shows?!). One person goes on the show, and are faced with six naked bodies in misted glass boxes. The bodies are chosen based on that person's preferences, and what they're attracted to. As the show goes on, more and more of the naked bodies are revealed, and the person has to ultimately choose their favourite to go out with.

It's a bit of a whirlwind, and totally addictive. After watching it all in a week I'm ready for the next series now. In the meantime, I'm going to reminisce in the show's glory with this post.

10 things I learnt from bingewatching Naked Attraction

1.) Everyone's 'type' is absolutely different. There's no 'ideal' body that everyone would prefer. I was practically screaming at the TV wondering why you would kick *that* person off because wow they were basically perf. Turns out not everyone thinks the same.

2.) Tattoos were probably the biggest talking point. I mean, it's fair enough when a guy's got an elephant phase tattooed above his crotch, but in general tattoos really were a focus point. Most people love them, some people don't really care, but I don't remember anyone downright hating them.

3.) So many men shave down there (and one even had a lil heart shaved in). I imagine the figures on this are skewed because they neatened up before the show, but wow, there was hardly a stray pube in sight.

4.) Ghosting is a real issue in modern dating. This is basically where you see someone, or you've been chatting, and all of a sudden they stop replying to things/won't answer calls/you never see them again. This made for some v awkward conversations when the show reunited the pair that went on the date a few weeks later.

5.) There are way more varieties of labia than I ever imagined. But neither men nor women really care that much about the shape of your vaj, so it's nothing to lose sleep over.

6.) Choosing a date based purely on physical attraction doesn't really work out. I think over the two seasons we saw one successful couple. One. It really made me shocked at how we manage to find anyone we like when you need to like their appearance and personality.

7.) Men aren't too fussed by fake boobs. Some like it, some don't. Most didn't really care either way.

8.) Anna Richardson can spout a whole lot of weird sex facts. I mean, I'm still not entirely convinced that women like their heads to be at the same level as a man's shoulder because they can smell the pheromones from an armpit better that way. Grim.

9.) I learnt more than anything else has ever taught me about trans bodies. There were pre-transition women and men, some taking hormones, some not. These body types are often excluded from shows like this, so it was so nice to see complete inclusivity. The same goes for disabled bodies too.

10.) Me and my boyfriend learnt a lot about what each other liked. We also became v judgemental at trying to guess who would be kicked off at each stage and why. We spent so much time trying to suss out which body the person choosing would like, and it was very eye-opening.

Ahhh I totally HAVE to catch up on this programme now. I've seen the one with the guy with the elephant tattoo 'down there' and that was certainly interesting haha! You're right that it always seems to be Channel 4 with the weird and wonderful shows, but I love that you see a range of different people rather than one supposed-idealistic type. It's fab!

  3. This show sounds very interesting in terms of an social experiment as well as other people's expectations. Although, may I ask, what time does this show run? I can't imagine it being any earlier than 8 or 9 p.m😂😂😂😂
