Goodbye May and hello June! I know this is a little late going up, but I turned 23 on Sunday and I've had a few days off to celebrate my birthday, eeek. May was a bit of a scorcher here in the UK, but the weather doesn't quite seem to have made up its mind as always. We've had some incredible hot days, and some really overcast ones, but sadly one thing has stuck around: the humidity (my poor hair). May's been a month of job hunting for me, with my first interviews in almost a year. I'm really proud of how I performed in the ones I've had so far, and I'm really hoping that I'll have secured a new position by the end of June.

Sadly, we lost our little hamster Jeff in the first week of May, and I was absolutely devastated. But, we also gained two new little additions to the family this month: a roborovski dwarf hamster called Frank and another Russian dwarf one (like Jeff) called Sid. They are SO cute, and I'm always posting little videos or pictures of them over on my Insta stories. I'm obsessed.

Beauty

I haven't got too many beauty favourites this month, although I have been focusing a lot on my skin care recently, as the changing weather has really messed about with it. I've also been doing a whole lot of pamper time to keep my mental health secure, and Soap & Glory have 100% had my back on this. Using a combo of their Scrub of Your Life and Heel Genius butter has been my remedy to save my sore, dry feet. I work on my feet all day, and they're definitely always in need of a little extra TLC. If you have the same problem, then I'd definitely recommend using this scrub and following it up with the heel butter to soften and soothe everything.

In April & May I got my first couple of sets of shellac nails done, and whilst I loved the way they looked, I had no idea how much they would ruin my nails. They were a complete state when my first set ccame off. So, I started taking Morrison's skin, hair and nail supplement tablets and they've been fab. I've used a more 'high end' branded version of them before, for about four times the price and honestly the results & ingredients were the same. Morrison's pack has 30 tablets in for £2.50, which is such good value.

Lifestyle

Napping is pretty much essential to my lifestyle, but I did go 19 days without it in May - for me that's the longest I've gone in years. I've been feeling the need to have a little something extra to push past sugar lows, and rediscovering Tetley's Berry Boost green tea could not have come at a better time. I honestly can't remember if this has been in a favourites of mine from long ago, but it tastes amazing and it's perfect for getting me out of those little energy crashes. Plus, I now have the cutest glossy ceramic mug from Flying Tiger to drink it from.

Speaking of cute ceramics, I found the perfect blog prop in Matalan. This little pineapple shaped, initial embossed trinkets tray is exactly what I've been needing to fill up space in some of my flatlays.

And finally, I had to include some little tsum tsums didn't I? Disney recently released their Finding Nemo range, and I'm hooked. I couldn't not pick up little Nemo himself as well as Squirt the baby turtle. Finding Nemo is one of the first films I ever remember seeing in the cinema, and it'll always have a special place in my heart because of that.

What had you hooked in May?

  2. I have been trying some green tea variants from Tetley. If only it weren't as nourishing as it is made to be (to an extent, I can ascertain that it is), I would have strangled those people who coaxed my taste buds into bearing the brunt of its terrible taste 😂

Green tea, for some strange reason tastes horrible. I'd be switching to hibiscus tea soon. Monsoon's impending at my place (New Delhi, India) and spoiling the season with green tea is sinful 😅 Lemon tea too, sounds a doable option.

Happy Belated birthday! So sorry about your hamster but I'm glad you have two new little friends! The Morrisons supplements sound amazing for just a few quid, I'll definitely have a look at for those. I love the pineapple trinket tray too, I swear Matalan has the best steals both in clothing and homeware. I'll have to have a look if they have one with a Y on it although it's always such a hard letter to find :( :')
