Weekly pamper routine for Winter months

Winter pretty much sucks for our skin. From wind chapping, to endless dry patches re-surfacing, our skin really battles through the next few months. So, I'm going to be upping my pamper routine to help out both with this and with the fact that winter months are a little tougher mental health-wise. It's such a key part of self-care for me; taking care of my body reminds me that I'm worth spending time on, and gives me some much-needed confidence boosts.

Let's start with talking daily things. Moisturising after my morning shower keeps my skin completely in check, and I really do notice a difference if I don't do this. My all-time fave is The Body Shop's Peach body butter, but they're not stocking it at the moment (similar here). My skin gets really dry at this time of year, and it's one of the few things that actually really sinks in deep and helps.

Mondays; The worst day of the week. Mondays are face mask days - you're heading back out into the working world and you really need something to relax with. I don't know what it is about face masks, but they just make me feel so good. A deep cleansing clay one is fab to help clear out all the gunk that's starting to rise to the surface after a weekend of drinking and eating out.

Tuesdays; hand cream time. My knuckles truly suffer at this time of year. They get chapped, eczema pops out all over the shop and they hurt so damn much. I use hand cream a few times a day now because it just about manages to keep this at bay. Sitting down once a week to really massage a thick layer into my hands helps both to keep on top of this, and to give my hands some much needed love after tapping away at a keyboard for a few days. My favourite at the moment is Bath and Body Works' French lavender hand cream (similar here) - it doesn't stay tacky on your hands, and it really does leave them nourished but not greasy.

Wednesdays; detox night. This is something I really need to work on. Step away from your work, your laptop, your chores. Drink some peppermint tea, snuggle up with a book or Netflix and totally chill. Pampering yoself doesn't have to be all about the skincare, ya know?

Thursdays; spend some time looking after your toes. I'm torn between Champney's foot butter and Soap & Glory's Heel Genius for my favourite on this front because both are fab. Pop on some music or a Youtube video and take ten minutes to really massage some thick cream into your feet. Then get your fluffiest socks and wear them overnight so that when you wake up in the morning your toes are absolutely dreamy.

Fridays; bath night. The dream. Light a whole bunch of candles, load up on masses of bubble bath (I'm loving this Imperial Leather one at the moment), pick up a book and switch off. It's the start of the weekend, and I find having a bubble bath really helps me to reset and wind down after the stress of working all week. Plus reading completely lets me escape and I just can't get enough.

Saturdays; time to take care of yo hair. I've had really bad dandruff recently, so coconut oil is saving my butt on this front, but there are so many different types of hair mask you can do: shop bought, olive oil, avocado, banana, the list goes on. I pop mine on before bed, look like a slug overnight sleep with my head on a towel and when I wash it out in the morning I feel like an absolute princess.

Sundays; nail time. This is something I suck at, but really want to get better at over the festive period. Strip off the old nail polish, pop on some hand cream, and layer some new polish on. It gets you ready to start all over again with an extra bit of sass for your week.

  1. All of these picks sound lovely. I might pick up that Champney's foot cream because although I love Heel Genius, I really want to try something new. xxx

    1. It's a really great alternative to Heel Genius in my opinion - I just can't quite decide which pips the post as my favourite!

    1. Me too! It's my absolute favourite, but they keep taking it off sale, and bringing it back as a limited edition one - so frustrating!
